The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is New Zealand’s leading independent biomedical research institute, with a history spanning over five decades. The Institute’s research centers on the immune system, and how it may be harnessed to treat human disease. Pioneering research programmes explore fields of immunotherapy such as cancer, asthma and allergy, infectious diseases, gut health and brain health.
Our purpose-built facility is home to over 100 researchers and staff, and boasts two GMP labs and a comprehensive flow cytometry, cell sorting & cell imaging suite, as well as a pathogen-free animal facility tailor-made for supporting murine biological models. This unique combination of biological tools and immunological expertise, and a number of strong collaborative relationships with organisations around the world, allows us to achieve world-class research, and translate this into health & economic benefits for Australasia.
